Born and raised in St. Stephen, I have always had a deep connection to our community and to Charlotte County Hospital. I have been married to my husband for 48 years, and together we are very proud parents of three wonderful children and grandparents to four grandchildren.

I had the privilege of spending 46 years as a Registered Nurse at Charlotte County Hospital, working in all departments throughout my career. Three years ago, I retired after serving in leadership roles as Facility Manager and Manager of the Emergency Room, CCU and Ambulatory Clinic.

I was always extremely proud of my nursing career and genuinely enjoyed caring for our patients, supporting their families and working alongside our dedicated staff. Throughout my career, keeping patients, families and staff at the centre of everything I did was always my number one priority.

My passion for Charlotte County Hospital and for healthcare close to home has continued well beyond my retirement. I was honoured to be asked to join the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation, where I now have the opportunity to continue supporting a place that has meant so much to me, both personally and professionally.

One of my proudest accomplishments before retiring was being part of an instrumental team that helped bring a CT scanner to Charlotte County Hospital. Seeing this service become available closer to home was incredibly meaningful. It meant that patients and their families no longer had to make the many-mile journey to Saint John for this important care.

For me, supporting the Foundation is about more than fundraising. It is about helping ensure that the people of Charlotte County have access to the care they need, as close to home as possible. After dedicating 46 years to CCH, I am proud to continue being part of its future and helping shape healthcare closer to home.

David Purcell is an accomplished business leader known for strategic planning, stakeholder engagement, and cross-functional collaboration. A skilled communicator and team leader, he has a proven record of delivering results.

David brings 40 years of experience in hotel and hospitality software, including 19 years in hotel operations with Fairmont Hotels & Resorts and 21 years leading software development at Infor Hospitality. Throughout his career, he collaborated closely with clients, business partners, government leaders, and industry advisors to build strategic alliances and lasting professional relationships.

At Future St. Stephen, the economic development association of St. Stephen, David leads collaborative initiatives with local organizations, government agencies, and developers to foster continued community investment. At Charlotte County Hospital Foundation, he focuses on donor relations and capital fundraising to support services and care for local residents and capital expenditures for Charlotte County Hospital.

Description text goeSharlene MacPhee was born in Charlottetown, PEI, then  grew up as an army brat on bases throughout Ontario, where she  did her schooling and began her career as a social worker. She moved to New Brunswick in 1994 and eventually retired after 32 years in child welfare.

Volunteering has always been a part of her life  beginning at an early age. She was in Girl Guides for 50+ Years and in recent years did pet  therapy with the St. John Ambulance Program . She continues to be involved in Rotary and the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation as a board member.  Locally available health care is of particular importance to her.

Other interests in retirement include traveling, photography, playing cards, singing with a chorale group, and various aspects of drama - being the make up person and attending plays.s here

Janice Richard is one of the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation’s longest-serving board members, having dedicated more than 20 years to supporting healthcare in her community.

A lifelong resident of St. Stephen, Janice was born at Charlotte County Hospital and has always felt a strong connection to local healthcare. Her commitment to community service also carries on a family tradition started by her grandfather, Gordon Matheson.

Throughout her time with the Foundation, Janice has served on both the Nominations and Fundraising Committees and continues to play an active role in many Foundation initiatives. She is also a familiar face at the annual CCHF Radiothon, where she helps welcome donors and support one of the Foundation’s most important fundraising events of the year.

Outside of the Foundation, many people in Charlotte County know Janice through Jean Coutu Pharmacy, where she has worked for more than 30 years.

Janice’s longstanding commitment, compassion and dedication to her community continue to make a meaningful impact on the Foundation and the patients and families it serves.

Joni Donahue is an accomplished leader with a deep commitment to community well-being, currently serving as the Vice President of the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation Board. With over 36 years of experience in healthcare administration, Joni brings a wealth of expertise in strategic planning, governance, and community engagement to the foundation.

In her  role as Vice President,Joni works closely with the board president, board members, and hospital leadership to advance fundraising initiatives that directly enhance patient care and medical equipment at the Charlotte County Hospital. She is passionate about ensuring that the residents of Charlotte County have access to high-quality, sustainable healthcare close to home.

Prior to stepping into this executive board role, Joni,held various leadership positions, including Director of Nutrition and Food Services for Horizon Health Network South,Chair of the former District 10 Education Council,Vice chair of the NB Board of Education, member of the Provincial Curriculum Advisory Committee, member of the Regional Assessment Board, member of Fundy Community Foundation Board and Adjunct instructor for  the Washington County Community College, Calais, Maine! Known for a collaborative leadership style and a results-driven approach, Joni is  dedicated to fostering strong partnerships within the Charlotte County Communities.

Joni received her Bachelor of Science Degree in Home Economics with a major in Dietetic Administration and Business from Mount Saint Vincent University in Halifax Nova Scotia.She went on to complete her Dietetic internship at the former University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton, Alberta.

A long-time resident of St.Stephen,Joni enjoys various forms of physical activity from walking her dog to spin class. She loves participating in mentorship programs as well as reading a good book and gardening.

Meet Sam Kinney, Board Member of the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation and former Treasurer.

Sam brings more than 26 years of experience as an accountant, building a career around organization, strong communication and creating positive relationships with customers and colleagues. She has brought those same skills to the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation, where she has been involved for the past 15 years.

Throughout her time with the Foundation, Sam has contributed her time and expertise to support its work in the community, including serving as Treasurer. Her longstanding involvement reflects a genuine commitment to giving back and helping strengthen healthcare close to home.

Outside of her work and community involvement, Sam enjoys camping, reading, walking and spending time with family and friends.

A little about me, Melanie Cameron.

I have always believed that some of the most important work happens behind the scenes-where organization, compassion and willingness to help can make a real difference.

I have been proud to serve as the Secretary of the Charlotte County Hospital Foundation since 2013.  In my professional career, I have worked with Horizon Health since 2008 spending the last 13 years as an Executive Assistant in Administration at the Charlotte County Hospital.

I like to think of myself as the behind-the-scenes girl-the person who keeps things organized, helps coordinate donations, answers the phone, responds to questions, and most importantly, is always willing to listen and lend a helping hand.  Whether its is my day job or my volunteer role with the Foundation, helping people is at the heart of what I do.

Being the Foundation’s secretary is especially meaningful to me because it brings together my professional experience and my personal passion for health, caring, and supporting the needs of others.  I am fortunate that my day-to-day work and my volunteer work both allow me to contirube to something bigger than myself and help make a difference in our community which I was born and raised in.

Outside of work and volunteering, my greatest joy is being a mom to three boys (Alex, Ben and Hudson).  I love spending time with my family, going four wheeling, having bonfires and simply relaxing and enjoying some quite time with the ones I love whenever I get the chance. 

At the end of the day, I am someone who believes in showing up, helping where I can, listening when someone needs it , and giving back to the community I am proud to be part of.
