Charlotte County Hospital Foundation Scholarship
The Charlotte County Hospital Foundation is proud to support students pursuing careers in the health professions through scholarship and bursary opportunities. These awards are intended to help students continue their education while encouraging the growth of future healthcare professionals within our region.
Applicants are asked to provide information about their academic background, career goals, extracurricular and community involvement, references, and financial need.
As part of the program, successful scholarship recipients are asked to make every reasonable effort to return to the Charlotte County community to work in their chosen profession once their studies are complete.
Eligibility Requirements
Applicants must be enrolled in a recognized healthcare-related program, including medicine, nursing, pharmacy, physiotherapy, or another health care profession.
Medical Students - Students entering their first year of medical school are eligible to apply
Students in all other health care programs: applicants must be in their second year or higher of their program at the time of application.

Meet Colleen from Pennfield, NB!
Colleen is entering her fourth and final year of the Bachelor of Nursing program at UNB Saint John, building on an already impressive 10 years of experience as an LPN.
Throughout her career, Colleen has worked at St. Joseph’s Hospital, where she continues to work casually. She has always had a heart for serving others and truly values the opportunity to connect with people, hear their stories, and learn from those around her.
Her passion lies especially in palliative care, where she finds meaning in the close relationships that can be formed with patients and their families during some of life’s most difficult moments. Being able to offer comfort, compassion, and support is what makes this area of nursing so special to her.

Isaac Groom began his medical journey at the end of July 2026 and is now entering his first year of the Undergraduate Medical Education program at the University of Saskatchewan.
Before beginning medical school, Isaac completed his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Sciences at UNB Saint John. His goal is to complete a two-year Family Medicine residency, with a particular interest in addictions medicine and mental health.
Isaac believes that a little compassion and support can make a meaningful difference in someone’s life. As a future physician, he hopes to provide every patient with the care, understanding and support they deserve.

Meet Thu Ha, from St. George, who is entering her second year of the Accelerated Bachelor of Nursing program at UNB Saint John.
Thu has worked as a Licensed Practical Nurse at Charlotte County Hospital since 2022. She is known for being dedicated, compassionate and reliable, with a strong commitment to patient-centred care. She works well as part of an interdisciplinary team and communicates effectively with both patients and colleagues.
Thu has a clear vision for her professional growth and is continuing to work toward her goal of becoming a Registered Nurse.

Meet Emma Willard, from Utopia, New Brunswick, who will begin the Accelerated Bachelor of Science in Nursing program at Dalhousie University in September 2026.
Emma has already completed a Bachelor’s degree in Biology, and through Dalhousie’s accelerated nursing program, she will be able to complete her Bachelor of Science in Nursing in just two years.
Emma comes from a background of diverse professional experience and volunteer work, which she feels has played an important role in her personal growth and development. She looks forward to carrying those experiences with her as she works toward her future career in nursing.
